Forbes 2010 top 10 Female earners: Oprah Winfrey continues her reign
Half of the top earners are under 30.
For the first year in the Forbes annual list, the under 30s are making their mark with Beyonce, Taylow Swift, Lady Gaga, Miley Cyrus and Britney Spears all named in the top ten highest female earners.
However, the Queen of chat show, Oprah Winfrey continues her reign with a large margin as the highest female earner. She earned a staggering £203m which more than 3 times more than the second place.
The bootlicious singer Beyonce, 29 was second on the list with £56m.
According to Forbes, Beyonce made her money with a string of lucrative endorsement deals that ranged from L'Oreal to Ninetendo as well as her expanding fashion line known as the 'House of Deréon' and of course from her music which included her very successful 90-plus date world tour.
Britney Spears who suffered a breakdown two years ago was third with earning of £41m. This is in some part from her world tour. Endoresment deals with cosmetic firm Elizabeth Arden and fashion chain Candies also boosted her income.
Its good to see Britney making a comeback although, some of it maybe down to the fact that she is under conservatorship which means that her dad took complete control of her financial and personal affairs.
Who could forget the strange behaviours that led to the conservatorship. Britney had shaved off her hair. She attacked a car with an umbrella. She lost custody of her two young children because of her drug-taking. Finally, after a suicide attempt, she was carted off to hospital under police helicopter escort and placed in a psychiatric lockdown.
All this seems to behind her now. Although she is still under the conservatorship, it is beleived that her dad gives her lots of leeway with her personal affair.
Britney is followed closely in the fourth place by Lady Gaga with £40m.
Madonna is fifth with £37.5m which she made from the highest grossing tour of 2009. It is estimated that she made £4m from each concert.
The 52 year old, who is currently directing a film about the royal family, also benefits from royalties from her string of 1980s hits that were featured on the TV series Glee.
Sandra Bullock as the only actress on the list follows Madonna closely with £37m and is sixth on the list.
Seventh place goes to another chat show host; the newly wed Ellen DeGeneres with £35m.
The Eighth place goes to the youngest person on the list with £30m. That is the 17 year old Miley Cyrus. The teen star made her name with Disney in the hot TV show Hannah Montana.
Singer Taylor Swift is ninth with £29m.
Finally in tenth place is Judge Judy with £29m. Who knew that being a TV Judge could be so lucrative.
