Institutional Racism? Outrage as it turns out that 21 Oxford University colleges took no black students last year
The black Labour MP David Lammy has revealed from Freedom of Information Request that there is a racial segregation at one of England's top Univeristy - Oxford Univeristy. It has been discovered that 21 Oxford colleges did not offer a single undergraduate place to black students last year. The situation is even worse as it appears that one college has not offered any place to a black student for the last five years. Yes five years.
It gets worse. Out of 1,500 academic staff and lab staff, none were black. Thats zilch, nil, zero black academic staff. Thirty four were British Asian. I wonder how they make up their diversity. Do they only employ black cleaners?

England 2018 failed world cup bid: Life is unfair
Merton college (Oxford University) has not offered a black student a place for the last 5 years and has only accepted 3 black students in the last decade. Thats right, in the last ten years, Merton college has found it fair, balanced and just to only admit 3 black students.
One may wonder, that maybe, black students don't apply to these Oxford colleges. Wrong. In 2009, only one of the colleges accepted one black student. Out of 35 applicants, only one student was accepted. The other 21 colleges did not find any room (I guess) for the remaining 34 black students.
One may also wonder if these black students are not getting the required grades for Oxford University. Wrong again. The applicants have the three As or better as required by the university.
What is so outrageous about this, is that this University have been getting away with this racial exclusion and thus segregation for so long. The Universirty have been claiming for years that they want to recruit the brightest students from all backgrounds. It claims to have programmes to encourage applications from state school students, and those from black and working-class backgrounds. Obviously such programmes are not working. They are obviously not interested in making sure such programme work because if Oxford colleges were as bad with exam results, they would have done something to make a drastic change.
In recent period with England claiming injustice for how the 2018 FIFA world cup was chosen and asking for a change to the selection process, I would say that many institutions in UK need to make a change. Black people demand a more transparant process in all areas but lets start with Oxford University admission procedure. In fact, not just black people, I think that anyone with humanity can understand and would demand the same transparancy.
Its a tragedy because we all know how important the role education plays in our economic success as adults. As stated by Rob Berkeley, director of the Runnymede Trust, a thinktank that promotes racial equality "If you look at how many people on both frontbenches are Oxbridge-educated, Oxford and Cambridge are still the major route to positions of influence. If that's the case we shouldn't be restricting these opportunities to people from minority backgrounds."
If you are disgusted and as outraged as I am, then please send an email, or letter to Oxford University noting your disgust. Complaints can be sent using this form.
